After coaching and being on staff for almost 3 decades in HS and college, I was astounded at how often Iowa's Clark got away with pushing off while handling the ball, so I did a little film study.
Clark pushed off a total of 14 times where it was noticeable. The 6th time she pushed off at 6:25 of Q2 was the first one called officials. She held and pushed Poa on her way to the basket. It was her 2nd foul of the game, but the first push-off called.
Clark pushed off 10 times in the first half. 2 were called. One of those 10 were on defense (using her hands to push Samyah Smith away on a screen).
In the 3Q, she only pushed off once (she had 4 fouls by that time), and 3 times in the 4Q.
14 total push offs and only 2 called. Clark is lucky she didn't foul out by halftime. I've never seen a player use their hands and forearms so aggressively and not be called.
Where did you coach at ?
Excellent breakdown, and everyone was upset because she was in foul trouble so early.
