2025 Louisiana Left Handed Pitcher Cali Deal Dishes on Why She Chose LSU And More ...

Cali Deal, one of top pitchers in the 2025 class for Louisiana High School Softball decided to shut things down and commit to LSU. This commitment came just 1 day after schools can contact class of 2025 players. Deal took some time to discuss with me what it was like when schools could first reach out, the commitment and more.

Cali told me regarding the September 1st contact period starting "It was very surreal and nerve racking. I’ve been waiting for that day for a very long time, and it definitely lived up to the hype." She added " I talked to them (LSU) on September 1st and we both knew that I love them, and they love me, and we scheduled a visit for today September 2nd and did all the fun things, and then when it was all over, my family and I talked to the coaching staff, and I told them that I was ready to be a Tiger! " On the coach's response to her commitment "They each gave me a hug".

On what stood out to her about LSU "It’s been my dream to go to LSU for as long as I can remember. Right when I stepped on campus, I knew it was my future home. I love the people and the fact that they love me more as a person than an athlete." I asked her who the main competition was, and she responded with "Honestly there was really no other strong competition. My heart has always been for LSU." I asked if there were any ties to LSU for her and she commented "No family that played here, but My great grandfather, aunt, uncle, and cousin all graduated from law school here and my other great grandfather went to LSU to get his degree in Education.

On what it means for her as Louisiana girl to wear the purple and gold "It’s a dream come true. I think every little softball player in Louisiana dreams that at some point or another and for it to finally be happening is so surreal and I can’t wait to represent the purple and gold! " She described her play as "a left-handed spin pitcher with the ability to locate on all sides of the plate." Her strong suit, she says "My ability to see the positive in any situation and encourage other people even when I’m not on top of my game."

"Honestly there was really no other strong competition. My heart has always been for LSU."

Her goals for the season are to the point "To continue to improve, win a state championship, and represent LSU well." What is LSU getting in Cali Deal, she said "someone who will always work hard and cheer on her teammates no matter what. I’ll be the best cheerleader whether I’m on the field or not!! " And when she is not on the field ? She commented "I love playing basketball, working out, and hanging out with my family."
