Lauryn on why she chose the Tigers "I’ve been coming to LSU camps for 3 years now and as soon as I step on campus I feel at home and the program is so family based I felt like I was already family when I first got there." As I previously mentioned Lauryn was part of an LSU official visit weekend that netted a handful of commitments. Regarding what she thought was so special on the weekend that hit home with so many recruits "The staff made us feel like we were having the college experience and made us feel like family, they gave us the information we needed but at the same time made everything interesting and fun. So overall, I think the one thing that stood out on the visit was the family atmosphere."
She discussed her relationship with the LSU staff as something that stood out "I’ve known most of the staff for 3 years so overtime I’ve become close with them and I feel like they are family and I know that’s something the pride themselves on because it’s what most people say is one of the best things about LSU; it’s one big family." She added "I am super grateful for the staff following me and my process for the last 3 years and seeing both my ups and downs and staying interested in me." Lauryn has such a connection to the staff that the team that LSU beat out for her signature had a former staff member as she added "I was considering NC State heavily because I was brought out by previous LSU assistant Coach Lindsey Leftwich, who I had a super great bond with."
Lauryn regarding her bond with current commits "I bonded with all the commits on my visit with me and I’ve known Cali Deal from previous camps so I’m super excited to keep growing my relationships with all the commits." On her first game in Death Valley she stated "It was super cool how big the stadium was and to see how many people support LSU. All the different cheers and sayings were so fun to learn and the atmosphere was amazing to be apart of." She is not completely new to LSU as she says " My sister goes to LSU and is a sophomore this year and listening to her talk about how much she loves it makes me excited to be there."
We discussed just what it is that drives her and she replied with "I want to prove to people that never believed I would be where I am wrong. I want to show them that I deserve to be a D1 pitcher and that I will succeed in the SEC." She also wants LSU fans to know "I am always going to put full effort in every pitch I throw and always give LSU softball my best efforts in everything I do." When not playing softball or training she says she loves "hanging out with my friends, playing sand volleyball, shopping, and going to church with them." She actually played volleyball her freshman year but decided to give it up and focus on softball. Stay tuned for updates on Lauryn on her path to LSU.
