3 Names Emerging from the Transfer Portal for LSU Softball

In the world of college softball, the LSU Tigers have always been a force to be reckoned with, showcasing exceptional talent and unwavering determination on the field. However, as the seasons change and players move on, the team is faced with the exciting challenge of welcoming new faces and nurturing fresh talent. Head coach Beth Torina and her dedicated team are on a mission to build a squad that can carry on the legacy of LSU softball, and the transfer portal will be a huge part of the equation.

Three Names to Keep an Eye On

Among the emerging talents, there are three names that I keep hearing who could be poised to make a significant impact on the team's future performances if they choose to don the purple and gold. Let's dive into the profiles of these promising players who are set to make their mark in the world of college softball.

Avery Hodges, hailing from the esteemed Oklahoma Sooners, is a standout sophomore infielder who saw her role increase in the postseason play. Coming out of high school, she was ranked No. 6 prospect in the class of 2022 by Extra Inning Softball and had impressive stats to match. At Oklahoma, she has been splitting time and could see a much larger share of work with a middle infield at LSU that will be losing Taylor Pleasants and Karli Petty.

Rylee Holtorf, an emerging talent for the Washington Huskies, has been selected for the All-Pac 12 Defensive team and has shown remarkable improvement as a hitter each year. Possessing a powerful swing, Holtorf commands attention in the batter's box. In her junior year, she achieved a .336 batting average, hit 21 doubles, 17 home runs, and notched 25 RBIs, along with a .636 slugging percentage.

Sage Mardjetko, hailing from South Carolina, is a pitcher with significant potential. She possesses the skill to overpower batters with her finesse and precision. In her freshman year, she achieved a 2.85 ERA across 118.0 innings with 119 strikeouts and an 8-9 record. Her high school career was remarkable, featuring 32 no-hitters and 5 perfect games. In 2023, she boasted a 23-0 record with a 0.00 ERA, leading her team to a 35-1 record, amassing 340 strikeouts along the way. The chance to collaborate with a pitching expert like Beth Torina would be significant.

Keep an eye out for further LSU Softball recruiting updates.
