As mentioned in my recent article on LSU coaches hitting the road, the tigers handed out a new offer to 2025 LB Jayden Shelton out of South Oak Cliff in Dallas Tx. Shelton is one of the top linebackers in the state of Texas for the 2025 season. The Top 247 Composite has him ranked #295 overall 2 and #30 LB . He currently is 6'1"-205 lbs should be poised for a big season after a strong sophomore campaign where he had 56 Tot Tackles, 1 interception, and 2 sacks.
Shelton's highlights are a must see. He has a high football IQ to go with his elite athleticism. He is very adept to reading where the play is going and excels dropping back in coverage. I really like his ability to fill the gaps and get to the ball carrier or the quarterback. His athleticism is really on display when he gets the ball in his hands off turnovers. I asked Jayden to describe his style of play " Fast, elusive, and smart" was the answer i got.
Since January his recruitment has been picking up steam, landing offers from the of USC, Notre Dame, Miami , LSU, Michigan and Oregon to name a few. On who he is hearing from the most "Miami, LSU and Notre Dame" . Regarding the LSU he says the offer was extended personally from Defensive Coordinator Matt House. Shelton on the offer "I was extremely Happy and very excited" . What is Jayden looking for in a school, "I’m looking for a great coaching staff on and off the field and a school that has good academics."
