Brian Kelly and his LSU football staff are in hot pursuit of two of the state of Texas premier talents out of Duncanville High School in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Both Colin Simmons and Caden Durham have commitment dates of August 10th. Both also have LSU in their Top 3 schools. Simmons Top 3 is rounded out with the Texas Longhorns and Miami Hurricanes. Durham rounds his Top 3 out with the Oklahoma Sooners and the Texas A&M Aggies
Colin Simmons is 6'3"-225lbs and is rated by ON3 as the a 5 Star prospect and ranked No.4 Nationally and the No.1 player in Texas. He is also the No.1 Edge defender in the country. Similar to Harold Perkins last year being ranked No.8 overall Nationally I still thought he was too low. I feel the same way about Simmons this year. He is one of the can't miss type of players and the thought of him on the same defense as Harold Perkins in year 3 of his career at LSU is pretty wild. In 2022 he registered 79 tackles with 33 for loss and 22.5 sacks. He helped lead his team to an undefeated season and the Texas 6A- Division 1 State Championship.
Caden Durham is 5'9"-195lbs and is rated by ON3 as the a 4 Star prospect and ranked No. 114 Nationally and the No.23 player in Texas. He is also the No.10 Runningback in the country. Durham possesses elite track speed that translates to the football field nicely. His personal best is 10.25 in the 100m and 21.12 in the 200m. He registered 1960 rushing yards last season on 210 attempts while hauling in 9 receptions for 93 yards. He totaled 37 touchdowns on the season and was also a huge part of that state championship.
My Pick for both Colin and Caden is the one school both have in common and that is the LSU Tigers. This is not my only reason for the pick but it seems as by most accounts LSU is a slight lead for both of these guys and in my opinion it is more than a slight lead. The pursuit of Duncanville talent does not stop there though. LSU is also a big player for Javion Holiday a 2025 DB out of Duncanville and Dakorien Moore the 2025, 5 star Wide-out out of Duncanville who registered 44 receptions for 764 yards and 6 touchdowns.
