In Less than a 24 Hour Period LSU Football keeps 1 Star Home and Brings Another Home

Yesterday evening Jordy Cullota had Lafayette Christian Academy standout Ju'Juan Johnson on a special live episode of his show to make a surprise commitment to the LSU Tigers. Johnson was previously committed to Deion Sanders at Colorado and decommitted after his Spring Game visit .

Johnson is one of the premier athletes in the country. After having a brilliant career at Quarterback for the LCA Knights in Lafayette, La, Johnson experimented with playing CB and never looked back and has picked up 20+ offers along the way. The 247 Sports Composite has him listed as the No.267 Overall prospect and No. 7 overall in the state of Louisiana. Expect big things this season from Johnson as i expect his ranking to grow with more time playing the CB position as this is something new to him and once the technique continues to grow with the athleticism it will be special.

Then today, less than 24 hours after getting the news that Johnson was staying home, the former Rummel Raider running back has announced he is coming home after 2 seasons at Notre Dame. In the 2021 class Diggs ranking through The 247 Composite was overall No.493 and No.16 overall in Louisiana. At the time the previous LSU staff chose to pursue Armoni Goodwin and Corey Kiner over the instate product Diggs. LSU tried to make a late push for Diggs but it was too late, as they allowed then Notre Dame Head Coach Brian Kelly to come in and poach one from the state of Louisiana. Fast forward two years and ironically Kelly is the one who brought him home to Louisiana.

Diggs saw limited action in his freshman season at Notre Dame but still averaged 4.4 yards per carry on his 52 attempts. His sophomore season he had a full share with 165 carries and totaled 820 yards with 5.0 yards per carry and 4 touchdowns. He added 10 catches for 211 yards and another 2 touchdowns. One of the most impressive stats to me is the ball security where Diggs had ZERO fumbles in 200+ carries.

One thing i am noticing is while LSU is cleaning house on bringing home Louisiana guys in the portal, they are also doing their due diligence on these Louisiana products out of high school where they do not have to bring them back after producing elsewhere. LSU currently has 8 of their 15 commits all coming from the state of Louisiana, 9 if you count Xavier Atkins who transferred to play his HS ball in Texas. It is clear that Louisiana of the utmost priority to this staff and it is a breath of fresh air.
