LSU entered last weekends series against the Ole Miss Rebels riding a 23-game win streak and were the only unbeaten D1 Program in the nation. In Game 1 of the series the Tigers looked the part as they went on to a (3-0) win as Kelly Lynch threw a complete game and only allowed 2 hits and improved to 4-0 on the season. In game 2 of the series it was looking like the Tigers would do the same as they led (2-0) as they headed to the top of the 6th inning and Berzon had retired the last 17 batters faced. The 6th inning started with a strike out and then things fell apart as Ole Miss started hitting the ball and the error bug bit LSU over and over, as Ole Miss would go on to win (5-2) and Berzon (9-1) lost her first game of the season as she struck out 8 batters.
On Monday they played the rubber match and the Tigers looked to get back on track and things did not go as planned for Torina's club. They could not find an answer for the Ole Miss bats as they jumped out to a (4-0) lead and never looked back. It did not matter who the tigers put in the circle as they started with Raelin Chaffin ( 7-1) who picked up her first loss on the season and next went to Lynch, followed by Berzon. They combined for 9 strikeouts while hitting 4 batters and walking an additional 3 batters while giving up 9 runs on 13 hits as the Rebels won (9-2).
