After winning Game of the UCLA Double header in dramatic fashion on Friday night, the LSU Tigers kept it interesting again but this time the dice did not fall in their favor. One constant though has been the dynamic play of true freshman Jurnee Robinson who is budding into a superstar for LSU, as she has consistently been the best player on the court, both teams included. That is saying something, as there were two Team USA players in LSU grad student Anita Anwusi and UCLA Red-shirt Senior Anna Dodson. Robinson put up an unreal stat line this weekend with a whopping 46 kills with a .319 hitting percentage. On the defensive side she had 16 digs and 5 blocks. She is must see TV.
In Set 1 LSU came out on fire and UCLA no answers for what the Tigers were doing. LSU ran away with the set, 25-12. In Set 2 it looked as if it were going to be the same song and dance as LSU came out to a 7-4 lead before UCLA stormed back and won the set by a score of 25-22. As Set 3 started with the two teams knotted at 1 set each LSU came out to a 5-0 lead and would never relinquish the lead as they won Set 3 by a score of 25-20.
In Set 4 the back and forth affair ensued with the Bruins jumping on top the Tigers 8-3 but the Tigers came back swinging. in what was the most entertaining set of the night the two teams were knotted up 10 times before the Bruins went on a 4-0 run to win the set 25-22 and rode that momentum into the 5th set. The Bruins added on to the 4-0 run to take an 8-4 lead in the 5th set before ultimately winning the set 15-6 and the match 3 sets to 2.
