LSU Volleyball Drops Match to No.12 Vols (0-3) Where Do They Go From Here

Tonya Johnson and her LSU Volleyball team had strong performances in conference against Mississippi State and Missouri where they won each match (3-1) in back-to-back games. Since then, they dropped back-to-back games to No. 14 Arkansas and No. 12 Tennessee where they were swept (0-3) in both. Today's match against the Vols the Tigers lost each set by nearly 10 points a set in a match that never felt in question.

This year against ranked opponents the Tigers are (0-4) and have only managed to win 1 set (25-23) against No.22 Kentucky. A lot of times the Tigers can be their own worst enemy. So many times, they find themselves on a good run of points and they get a service error that kills momentum. Totaled on the year they have committed 99 service errors. The glaring area for this team though is blocks where they ranked 13th (last in the SEC) and hitting % allowed where they ranked (2nd to last in the SEC).

Everything is not as bleak as it may seem from what I have noted. There is still a lot of seasons left to play for a team that has so many first year contributing players in the program, and they should continue to gel as the season progresses. For instance, there are freshman Jurnee Robinson who leads the team in most important categories, Angie Lee who has been on the rise, Ella Hemmings who is 3rd on team with 10 service aces. Then there are the transfers, with Jade Demps who has had a similar effect as Jurnee Robinson, Erin Carmichael who has been great on the defensive side of things.

Next up the Tigers are set to square off against the Texas A&M Aggies Friday night in the PMAC at 8pmc CST .
