LSU Volleyball In The Month of November , Year 2 of Tonya Johnson

In the month of November in the heart of SEC play the Lady Tigers have had little successes in terms of wins-losses. The Tigers have an 8 game SEC slate in November and are currently (2-5) in that stretch with 1-game left to go against Mississippi State in Starkville. The Tigers won the prior match-up in the PMAC by a score of (3-1). With a birth in the NCAA tournament out of reach a win in that last game of the season would put the Lady Tigers with an overall record of (12-17).

With former LSU Volleyball standout returning to her Alma mater as Head Coach and having immediate success a year ago, Tonya Johnson has laid the building blocks for building a great program. There were high hopes for a return to tournament play at the end of the season 2 . While that won't be happening there were still some positives to build off of for the future.

While next season the Tigers will be losing a lot of its production, they will be returning the teams point scorer in Freshman Jurnee Robinson. To put things into perspective how dominant Robinson was this season she had (431.5) points, while the teams 2nd most points scored by Senior Anita Anwusi with (258) points. Robinson will be primed for a huge sophomore campaign.

While Robinson will be a huge part of the teams future there were a lot of bright spots by underclassmen. Super Sophomore Maddie Waak led the team with (777) assists, which is over 500 more than 2nd on the team and she was also second on the team with 23 service aces. Then there are players like Freshmen Ellie Echter, and Alexis Roberson who all had impressive second halves of the season.
