LSU Volleyball has checked off the last box before starting their second season under Head Coach Tonya Johnson, after they wrapped up their purple and gold scrimmage. The program is gaining fan interest after a successful season. Interest has increased tremendously with the program quadrupling their season ticket sales. That interest is also reflected in the turnout at the scrimmage with over 2500 fans showing up.
As one would expect the Pre-Season All-SEC Team selections Anita Anwusi and Sanaa Dotson performed as expected and I expect big years from them. Another standout for me was Senior Paige Flickinger where she had some thunderous kills, specifically two on back to back plays. Then there were the newcomers and the one who immediately stood out was Wisconsin transfer, Jade Demps and she made her presence know from beginning to end. Demps will be a handful for opposing teams all season long. For the freshman there were two that stood out to me. One being Jurnee Robinson the outside hitter from South Carolina and the other being Louisiana Gatorade Player of the Year , AC Froehlich from Lafayette, La. Once AC checked into the game they continuously called her name for great play after great play.
To top it all off the Tigers hosted one of their top prospects in Macaria Spears, who is an LSU legacy. It has to be a great recruiting tool to see the type of turnout the program had for a scrimmage. There was no winner determined as the two teams intermixed as the scrimmage went on. They will open play against the UCLA Bruins this Friday at 6:30 PM CT. More on this matchup to come on Thursday .

I thought all the players played well for this early in the season. Good luck to them all.
Turn up the AC
Hey Justin, since she has 4 years left, I thought I should mention that it’s spelled Froehlich.
